After School Club

Our very popular After School Club and Holiday Playscheme caters for children 4 -11 years in full time school.

After School Club

Our staff will collect your child from school at the end of the school day and escort them back to our setting.

Upon arrival the children have freedom of choice when choosing activities as we believe that they have just left a structured environment, and need some ‘relaxation’ time. The activities on offer range from art and craft, board games, construction, action figures, role play, books, computer and games systems as well as a variety of outdoor resources.

At 4.30pm a light snack is served. It should be noted that this meal could not be classed as a full evening meal. The 3 week menu is posted on parent notice boards.

Following the snack, organized activities take place. Children are encouraged to participate, but will never be forced to do so should they not wish.

Holiday Playscheme

The holiday Playscheme operates during all School Holidays with the exception of Bank Holidays. Children are provided with hot meals and like snacks throughout the day.

A programme of activities and events are planned in advance and will be displayed on the notice boards and online on the Family App, or posted to you in advance.

Outings are planned and written parental permission may be sought. There may be an additional small fee for transportation on these outings.

Any items of clothing or equipment needed for these outings or activities will be requested in advance. Staffing ratios are increased and a local bus company will provide a suitable seat belted vehicle which will be for the sole use of our club.

All child and parent details are taken on the outing in case of emergency.

As we organize at least one full day trip per week during the summer holidays, it is not advisable to book half days on these dates as children not attending the outing will have to remain at the nursery with the younger children.

Finally, as with our nursery, we have a behaviour and discipline policy in place. Any unacceptable behaviour will not be tolerated and staff will reinforce the point that the behaviour is inappropriate. Please refer to our policy for further details.

At Playdays we like to encourage children from different schools and localities to mix. We encourage social development and self-discipline and work with parents to ensure that the child is happy and stimulated during their time with us. The children all seem to enjoy the sessions and we like to include the children in the planning of activities as well as in the participation. We take great pride in the fact that the children ‘don’t want to go home yet’
